The city will hold a special ceremony this week for Polish Constitution Day, celebrating the first written adopted constitution in Europe more than two centuries ago.
Polish Constitution Day will be observed Wednesday, May 3, with a 5:15 p.m flag-raising ceremony at city hall. A dinner and a polka concert at the Polish-American Home at 27 West 22nd St. will follow from 6 to 10 p.m.
“The City of Bayonne is proud to join with our Polish-American community to celebrate this great achievement of the Polish nation,” Mayor Jimmy Davis said in a statement. “We welcome everyone in the community to join in remembering the Polish Constitution of 1791, a highlight in the history of freedom in the world.”
