City of Bayonne Offers Free Parking For Holiday Season

The City of Bayonne is making it easier for residents and visitors to shop locally for the holidays by offering free parking in city lots.

“The purpose of the free parking program in the lots is to encourage people to shop in Bayonne during the holiday season,” Mayor Jimmy Davis said.

The program will be available through Tuesday, January 1, 2019 and does not apply to commercial vehicles or to on-street parking meters.

The Mikado

“The Mikado; or, The Town of Titipu” is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert, their ninth of fourteen operatic collaborations. It opened on 14 March 1885, in London. (

A year before the action of this opera begins, Nanki-Poo, son of the Mikado of Japan, fled his father’s imperial court to escape marriage with Katisha, an elderly lady. Disguised as a traveling musician, he met and fell in love with Yum-Yum, the young ward of Ko-Ko, a cheap tailor in the town of Titipu. Yum-Yum, however, was already betrothed to her guardian, and Nanki-Poo left Titipu in despair.

Huggies & ShopRite Help New Jersey Combat Diaper Need

From July to October, ShopRite and Huggies donated 250,000 diapers to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, a member of the National Diaper Bank Network.  This helps the 1 in 3 families struggling with diaper need in New Jersey.

How you can help:

  • Donate leftover diapers – have leftover diapers your child outgrew? Your local diaper bank can use them! Opened packages are fine, too.
  • Volunteer at a lo200396155-003cal diaper bank – donate your time, skills, experience, education or man power to support (email to find a place to volunteer near you)
  • Host a diaper drive – every package of diapers you collect and every dollar you raise will impact needy infants and toddlers

The initiative is part of a larger donation of 500,000 diapers and $10,000 to the National Diaper Bank Network to help tackle diaper need—the struggle to provide enough clean diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy.*
