According to http://nj.com Nimbus Dance’s “Jersey City Nutcracker” returns to the Nimbus Arts Center this December with 15 public performances of their annual production along with a series of schooltime matinees for local school audiences.
“Jersey City Nutcracker,” now in its 13th year, is Nimbus’ adaptation of the classic holiday story and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s 1892 two-act classical ballet, offers a jazzy interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s music while set in Jersey City following the adventure of two locals with magic, battles, stories of friendship, and dance.
Nimbus Dance performs the choreography of its artistic director, Samuel Pott, in a show set against a backdrop of full-scale sets and animated projections of illustrated scenes designed by Jersey City-based artists Laia Carbrera and Isabelle Duverger. The show, co-written by Alysia Souder and Pott, takes audiences across Jersey City’s parks, lively avenues, alleyways, sewers, and back to City Hall, with a message of hope and resilience along the way.
