According to Mayor Jimmy Davis, low income senior citizens in Bayonne are invited to apply for vouchers to purchase New Jersey-grown fresh fruit and vegetables at the Bayonne farmers’ market, according to Mayor Jimmy Davis.
Tapinto.net reports that the program is designed for residents 60 years and older whose income level is at or below 185 percent of the poverty level.
“Seniors who qualify will receive five $5 vouchers that can be used on qualified products by approved vendors at the Bayonne Farmers’ Market which is held every Tuesday, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Fitzpatrick Park, located on Avenue C between 26th and 27th Streets.”
You can apply for the vouchers at City Hall in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, June 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Friday, June 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Applicants must have valid identification for Bayonne residency and proof of age and income and must prove their qualifying income status by either showing a Medicaid card of providing physical proof of income with appropriate documentation.
