BHS Scholarship Deadline Approaching

Vincent Neil was the 2014 award recipient of the Bayonne Historical Society’s leadership in community service scholarship program.

The Bayonne Historical Society, an organization dedicated to preserving the history of Bayonne, is now accepting applicants for its Leadership in Community Service Scholarship program.

Applicants must have a parent, grandparent, or guardian who is a member of the Bayonne Historical Society in order to apply.

Students must be high school seniors that are college bound and currently attending Bayonne High School, Marist High School, St. Peter’s Prep, St. Dominic Academy, High Tech High School, County Prep, or Hudson Catholic High School. Application packets for the scholarship can be obtained in any of these high schools.

The recipient of the $500 scholarship will be announced in April. An award ceremony for the winner will also be held at the Bayonne Historical Luncheon on June 13 at noon. The scholarship will be directly payable to the student’s college or university account.

Past winners include Bayonne High School graduate Kassie Doherty in 2010, Margaret Ryan from Holy Family Academy in 2011, Samantha Hitchell of Bayonne High School in 2012, Holy Family Academy graduate Caroline Gomez in 2013, and the most recent recipient, Vincent Neil from Bayonne High School in 2014.

To be considered for the scholarship, all applications must be postmarked by March 25th and mailed the Bayonne Historical Society. For more information contact the Bayonne Historical Society through scholarship chair Joan Hajducsek Rosen at BayonneHistoricalScholarship@gmail.com.
