bloomies-womaninpick-croppedFor the third consecutive year, the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) is teaming up with Bloomingdale’s in the Mall at Short Hills in Short Hills, NJ for an evening to benefit breast cancer research efforts.

On Thursday, September 15th, the non-profit 501(c) 3 organization and the nationally recognized department store will host a special reception beginning at 6 p.m. at the in-store Forty Carrots restaurant.  The evening will consist of a fashion presentation and special panel discussion with breast cancer experts, including Drs. Elizabeth Comen, Sheeva Talebian, and Jaime Knopman from New York City’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; and Dr. Serena Chen of St. Barnabas in Livingston, N.J.

An ideal event to lead into October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the evening blends wellness and style with an exclusive shopping event and educational session.  Bloomingdale’s will donate 10% of all sales from the evening to CBCF, which solely supports breast cancer research efforts under the direction of Dr. Larry Norton, the Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Breast Cancer Programs and the Medical Director of the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Larry Norton is leading the fight against breast cancer with trailblazing work, and has discovered that cancer cell mobility and the interactions between the cancer cell and its microscopic environment are the key pathways to understanding and eventually eradicating breast cancer.

CBCF is directly responsible for and is actively supporting Dr. Norton’s work through fundraising for two important research projects – breast cancer and its microenvironment and bone metabolism and breast cancer.  All this work is coordinated by Dr. Norton and a dedicated team of physicians and scientists at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and New Jersey and their national and international collaborators. It is based on the discovery that abnormal cell division is only one of the dangerous characteristic of cancer.

CBCF’s 8th Annual Golf Classic to Tee Off June 22nd at Mountain Ridge Country Club

2015-05-01_14-35-28The 8th annual Cure Breast Cancer Foundation’s Golf Classic is set to take place on Monday, June 22nd at the Mountain Ridge Country Club, site of the USGA 2012 Men’s Senior Amateur Championship, the 2014 MGA Mid-Amateur Championship and one of Golf Week’s “Top 100 Classic Courses in America.”

The daylong event – which is one of the most successful fundraising efforts sponsored by CBCF throughout the year– will tee off with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. at the West Caldwell golf course.  Registration and breakfast will begin at 10 a.m.  A $1 Million Hole-In-One Shootout and raffle drawing for a 2015 Ford Mustang convertible will also take place.

The festivities will conclude with a dinner reception where Dr. Larry Norton, the Foundation’s Scientific Advisor, will address guests.  CBCF’s fundraising efforts support breast cancer research efforts under the direction of Dr. Norton, who is the Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Breast Cancer Programs and the Medical Director of the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, at Sloan-Kettering and other national and international research facilities.

“The Golf Classic is our most popular event and has been the centerpiece of our fundraising campaign,” says Andrew Abramson, Treasurer and Co-Founder of CBCF, which is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization.  “Every year the total raised grows and allows us to advance the important work of Dr. Norton and his colleagues.  We are incredibly grateful to all the participants and sponsors who show their support for our efforts during a fun-filled day at one of New Jersey’s premier golf facilities.”

Cure Breast Cancer Foundation Raises $725,000 in 2014

LogoThe Cure Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF), a Clifton, N.J. – based not-for-profit 501(c) 3 charity, is set to build on one of its most successful fundraising years on record with a another busy schedule of events in 2015.

CBCF recently announced its 2014 charitable efforts ended with $725,000 raised to support the breast cancer research efforts under the direction of Dr. Larry Norton, CBCF’s scientific advisor, who is the Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Breast Cancer Programs and the Medical Director of the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Fully 100% of the net fundraising proceeds received by the foundation are donated towards research projects coordinated by Dr. Norton who is leading the fight against breast cancer with groundbreaking work that addresses cases when the disease spreads to other parts of the body where it can currently be controlled, but rarely cured.

CBCF will continue its efforts this year by hosting several popular events in the months ahead.  Highlighting the calendar will be the 8th annual “Pink Is The New Green” Cure Breast Cancer Golf Classic.  The outing is set to be held on Monday, June 22nd at the Mountain Ridge Country Club, site of the USGA 2012 Senior Amateur Championship, the 2014 MGA Mid-Amateur Championship and one of Golf Week’s “Top 100 Classic Courses in America.”

Additional spring and summer fundraisers include Bloomingdale’s Style and Wellness in support of CBCF at the Mall at Short Hills on Sunday, on May 3rd and An Emily and Ashley Trunk Event benefitting CBCF at 215 East 68th Street in New York City on Thursday, April 30th.
