Councilman Lloyad Booker Raises Alarm on Bayonne Fire, Alerts Nearby Pre-School

According to http://tapinto.net Bayonne Councilman Lloyad Booker was driving along Avenue C on Friday when he noticed smoke pouring out an apartment, his actions next, Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said, may have saved lives. 

Weaver reported that Booker, a retired member of the Bayonne Police Department, immediately called 911, then ran into a nearby day care center to alert the staff to evacuate all the children, before assisting in getting the children into a nearby bank for safety.

The fire, which required a full response from the Bayonne Fire Department, as well as mutual aid, left five apartments damaged and 17 residents displaced.
