Island Beach State Park, other N.J. state parks will charge fees again under new budget

According http://nj.com state parks in New Jersey will likely start charging visitors again this summer after a two-year tax holiday is set to expire under a new state budget proposed by Gov. Phil Murphy. That includes the popular Island Beach State Park.

Entrance fees would start being charged on July 1, 2024, the first day of the 2025 fiscal year, if Murphy’s proposed budget is adopted by the state Legislature. A budget must go into effect by the start of July to avoid a state shutdown.

Park fees range from a $2 walk or bike-in fee at some parks, up to a $10 weekend parking charge. (See a full list of fees below.)
