Solo album represents another ‘first’ for Hoboken’s James Mastro | Testa

According to http://nj.com James Mastro has been a professional musician for over 40 years, fronted his own bands, played sideman to legends, and now – finally – will be releasing his first solo album, “Dawn of a New Error,” on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

The timing – like so much music in 2024 – can be traced to COVID-19.

“Work for every musician just stopped during the pandemic,” Mastro said. “So this record, it wasn’t really a record, it was just a bunch of songs that I’d been working on with (Patti Smith Band bassist) Tony Shanahan. I started listening to them during the shutdown and realized that I kind of had an album here. And not knowing the future of any of the people I had been working with, I decided it was time.”
